Wiz Khalifa was arrested Sunday
morning after being stopped at an airport in Texas. TMZ reports that the rapper
was flying from El Paso to Dallas when officials discovered
a "green leafy
substance" during a TSA check.
The TSA officials turned Khalifa
over to local police, who told TMZ that he was holding 0.5 gram of pot. Once in
jail, Khalifa began tweeting out photos of himself and promoting a hashtag
campaign, #FreetTrapWiz.

"I wanna drop 28 Grams but they
got me locced up," Khalifa wrote, referring to the mixtape that he's been
promising as a lead-in to his new album, "Blacc Hollywood," which is
expected late this summer. "Soon as I get out, the tapes comin out. Fucc
that." On Friday, he had released a fresh taste of the mixtape with a take
on Missy Elliot's track "The Rain."
Sunday morning's arrest was not
Khalifa's first drug-oriented run-in with the law. In April 2012, he received a
citation for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Nashville. The month after that,
police reportedly busted him with weed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Despite the hiccup in his release
plans, Khalifa continued to use his detention as an opportunity to promote his
mixtape. "They're tryna figure out how many grams I had," he noted.
"How ironic."
