Tragedy struck in the house of the immediate-past Speaker of the
House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole on Wednesday as he
lost his daughter, Yewande Semiat Bankole to the cold hands of death .
In a statement made available to newsmen, yesterday, by the family,
it stated that the late Yewande was the granddaughter of Chief Alani
Suara Bankole, and she was aged 6.
It was also disclosed that Yewande was a sickler, with the sickle
cell anaemia and that she was a radiant girl who struggled with the
disease originally managed at a Lagos hospital but later transferred to a
London hospital where she eventually died.
The statement reads, “With gratitude to Almighty Allah and with heavy
hearts we announce the demise of our daughter Yewande Semiat Bankole
aged 6 years, at St Marys Children’s Hospital, London on October 1,
2014,”
